The MCap Classic range is the entry into the Mundorf world of film capacitors – technically positioned clearly above common industrial parts, but deliberately still without the housing and Supreme-level effort.

Electrical optimization

Metallized polypropylene film (MKP)

Polypropylene as a dielectric offers low losses, low dielectric absorption and high dielectric strength. It enables neutral, virtually distortion-free signal transmission and forms the basis for the clarity of the entire MCap family. Learn more (->Technologies)

Tight tolerances

Considerably tighter tolerances than standard parts. Left and right channels remain electrically identical. The spatial imaging remains stable and reproducible in the long term.

Macro-microphony

Classic winding with optimized winding tension and stabilization

Winding tension and mechanical construction are matched so that the winding sits stably and calmly. Additional stabilizing measures make the MCap Classic mechanically much calmer than typical industrial capacitors.

Micro-microphony

Pure aluminum metallization (100 % aluminum instead of aluminum/zinc)

While many AC capacitors in industry work with aluminum/zinc metallizations, Mundorf deliberately relies on 100% aluminum. The homogeneous structure of pure aluminum ensures more stable conductivity, fewer unwanted micro-contacts and a considerably quieter noise spectrum – a clearly audible improvement over the usual aluminum/zinc standard metallization.

Sound Character of the Family

The MCap Classic sounds clear, balanced and structured. Voices and instruments are cleanly outlined, the stage appears tidy and easy to follow. Thanks to the 100% aluminum metallization, the MCap Classic sounds clean and coherent – free from the slightly “torn” and rough character often associated with aluminum/zinc metallizations. The background is noticeably quieter, so the music appears more relaxed and more composed.
