MResist High Load
MResist High Load
For simple high-load applications in loudspeaker technology, wire-wound cement resistors with a continuous power rating of 25 watts are a natural choice. They are the affordable workhorses of the resistor range: robust, thermally resilient, and designed for applications in which high power must be converted into heat over extended periods.
The typical construction consists of a ceramic body as the carrier, a wire-wound resistive track, and a cemented casing. For mechanical protection and heat distribution in loudspeaker crossovers and power networks, these resistors are frequently used as:
- Load and power resistors (e.g. in attenuation and matching networks)
- Impedance correction (e.g. in correction and equalization elements)
- Protection and limiting applications in high-power branches
Important for selection: due to their construction, wire-wound designs can have a residual inductive component. If maximum frequency neutrality in the midrange/treble is the primary concern, film designs or other induction-free designs are therefore the more suitable choice. If, on the other hand, continuous power, thermal stability, and mechanical robustness are the priority, 25-watt cement resistors are a very economical solution.
Typical Applications in Practice
- Power resistor in heavily loaded branches
- Attenuation / level matching at high continuous power
- Impedance correction and equalization elements (load shaping)
- Protection and limiting tasks in high-power networks
