MResist Classic
MResist Classic
The M-Resist Classic (MREC10) is based on a classic, wire-wound construction of the resistive element, specifically optimized for audio applications. At its heart is a high-temperature-resistant ceramic core that serves as a dimensionally stable and thermally resilient base. A resistance wire made of a copper-nickel alloy from the Manganin family is wound onto this core. This conductor material is characterized by low drift, very stable electrical properties, and a “softer” behavior in the crystal lattice, in terms of material physics, than metal oxide film systems, which makes it less prone to micro-microphonic resonances.
The winding is then mechanically fixed by a specially formulated potting compound. This fixation reduces vibration excitation and counteracts macro-microphonic modulation. At the same time, the potting ensures more uniform heat distribution and supports thermal stability under music loads.
Only non-magnetic materials are used throughout the entire conduction path. This minimizes electromagnetic side effects, eddy currents, and field-related interference.
Since the M-Resist Classic is not bifilar-wound, its inductance remains value-dependent and higher than that of the Supreme. In many practically relevant circuit sections, however, this inductive component is uncritical, so the Classic represents a balanced compromise between stability, sonic calm, and economy.
Since the MREC10 is not bifilar-wound, its inductance remains value-dependent and is typically higher than that of the Supreme – in many applications, however, this is uncritical as long as the resistor is used correctly in the network.
