MLytic HV

The MLytic High Voltage Power Cap series is designed specifically for tube amplifier power supplies. Tube circuits impose special requirements: high operating voltages, dynamic load changes, and often classic layouts that should remain as close to the original as possible during repair and restoration. For exactly this purpose, MLytic High Voltage offers single and dual capacitances directly from stock, whose construction follows many traditional designs. This allows classic power supply concepts to be implemented cleanly without the layout having to be fundamentally rethought.

At the same time, the series is not merely “high-voltage-proof”, but specifically designed for fast and stable energy delivery. For even in a tube amplifier, the rule applies: energy must be available exactly when it is needed – without delay and without dips, directly at the amplifier stage.

Technical Properties

Electrotechnical Optimization

Special Electrolyte

High conductivity and stable parameters under temperature and load – the foundation for low ESR and high ripple current reserve in the high-voltage supply.

Laser-Welded Terminals

Metallurgically continuous, permanently stable junctions with low contact resistances. This keeps the supply constant and reproducible under pulse and ripple loads.

Maximum Contacting of the Winding

More connection tabs couple the current into the winding at multiple points. This lowers the effective ESR, reduces the effective inductance (ESL), and improves current distribution – particularly relevant with dynamic load changes in tube power supplies.

MLAL: Axial, 450 V, Ultra-Compact (for Classic Layouts)

The MLAL types are axially leaded 450 V variants for tight tube layouts and service-friendly installations. All MLAL capacitors feature non-magnetic, straight, tinned copper wires.

Macro-Microphony

In tube amplifiers, mechanical excitations (transformer hum, chassis vibrations) are often more pronounced. A defined, secure mounting helps minimize macro-microphonic influences and keep the supply calm.

Recommended accessories: MPSA mounting pads, MCNV mounting clamps and suitable solder.

Micro-Microphony

Non-Magnetic Lead Wires

The terminal current path remains free of magnetic involvement in the conductor. This reduces the finest current-synchronous effects at the terminal and supports calm supply behavior – especially in sensitive tube stages.

Stable Contact Points (Laser) + Multiple Contacting

Reduce contact-related micro-modulations and keep impedance and current distribution more uniform under dynamic loads.

Sonic Character

MLytic High Voltage aims for sovereignty and calm in the high-voltage supply. In playback, this manifests as a more stable sonic image under load, cleaner impulses, and a more controlled overall impression – especially when tube amplifiers are dynamically challenged and the supply must not “sag”.

Typical Applications

  • Tube amplifier power supplies (filtering, reserves, load peaks)
  • Service and restoration of classic designs (single/dual can matching the original construction)
  • Compact tube layouts with MLAL axial 450 V
  • Applications in which mechanical fixation via mounting pads/clamps should be considered from the start
