Feron I-Core

Core materials enable compact coils with lower RDC, but must work cleanly under music load. The Feron-I core uses grain-oriented silicon iron in a rod core geometry, bringing Feron's low losses and high saturation reserve into a very integrable format.

There is less core material in the magnetic circuit than with an E-Core or Zero Ohm, which means that more windings and therefore a longer copper wire are required for the same inductance. For this reason, RDC is higher than that of “power types” with the same inductance — the advantage is its compact, economical design. The open core design ensures high power-handling and prevents the coil from saturating at high signal levels.

In terms of sound, the signal remains clean and quiet because Feron reduces the distortions and losses caused by the core to a minimum. This is particularly attractive for many developers because the I-Core shape can be mounted on the printed circuit board, making construction and assembly easier.

At the same time, core-related effects also have a directly impact in parallel branches and correction stages, because they can add unwanted components to the loudspeaker signal — Feron keeps these influences very low.

The I-Core coil is therefore a robust, sonically clean solution when space and integration are crucial. It is suitable for bass/fundamental tone tasks in a compact design as well as for applications where you want to reproduce Feron quality economically.

In short: Feron I core is the compact Feron tool with high load capacity, clean signal behavior and very good integration capabilities.

  • Feron rod cores: compact, PCB-compatible, economical
  • Open core design → high load capacity for its size
  • Clean sound under load thanks to Feron material properties
  • RDC higher than E-Core/Zero Ohm, but significantly more space-efficient
  • Consider board layout and stray field for placement
