Baked varnish wire/resin soaking — baked wrapping as a quality lever

Baked varnish wire is enamel-insulated wire with an additional activatable hot-melt layer, which has an adhesive effect when heated. The windings are thus fixed together. In analogy to a lever, this design measure significantly improves the macro-microphonic properties of the coil with a manageable effort

Impact in practice

  • The coil becomes mechanically stable and works significantly less
  • Micro-movements between windings are reduced
  • In particular, this reduces macro-microphone effects (the coil vibrates less) and makes the unit run more quietly

classification

Otherwise the same design, a baked varnish coil is always better than the corresponding round wire coil without baked varnish, because the windings are baked in a hot-melt process and the coil therefore operates mechanically quieter.

Resin soaking as an alternative to baked varnish wire

If no hot-melt wire is used, resin soaking carried out under vacuum can take over the mechanical fixing. The resin penetrates into the windings, reduces cavities and degrees of freedom of movement and transforms the wrap into a stable compound. The result: significantly less macro microphony and an overall quieter, more precise operation of the coil.
